One-Off MenB Vaccination Programme Launches

One-Off MenB Vaccination Programme Launches: What You Need to Know

Community pharmacists across England are set to play a key role in delivering a new one-off meningococcal B (MenB) vaccination programme aimed at protecting young people ahead of the 2026 academic year.

Who Is Eligible?

The temporary programme will offer a two-dose MenB vaccination course to:

  • All Year 13 students in England (typically aged 17–18 years)
  • Individuals under 25 years old who are starting university for the first time in autumn 2026
  • Young people under 25 entering residential further education settings for the first time

The initiative is designed to provide protection before students enter higher-risk environments such as university halls of residence, where close and prolonged contact can facilitate transmission of meningococcal bacteria.

This is ONLY been offered at Community Pharmacies.
