April 2023 - NHS Prescription Charge

Please note that as of the 1st April 2023 the NHS prescription charge has increased to £9.65 per item.

Some prescribed items do incur more than one prescription charge e.g. elastic hosiery; a member of the dispensary team will explain if that is the case.

If you need multiple prescription items every month, you can apply for a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) this could save you money, find out more at: https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/help-nhs-prescription-costs/nhs-prescription-prepayment-certificate-ppc

Some patient groups are entitled to free NHS prescriptions and items such as contraception are free of charge on the NHS. To check if you are eligible for free NHS prescriptions, please visit: https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/nhs-help-health-costs

Please be advised that the increase in price for prescriptions is in no way associated with the Practice. The decision to increase the prescription cost is derived from government. Whilst we understand that we are all living in challenging financial times, please refrain from venting frustrations about this increase at practice staff. Unfortunately, this decision is not something that the practice has any control over.

Please see attachment below for further information regarding Pre-payment certificates.
